June 8, 2012 – World Oceans Day

We want to express our gratitude to Marissa Feinberg, the Co-founder of Green Spaces for equipping us with a wonderful display area at the Green Spaces, Tribeca office in New York, and for helping plan a whole event around the exhibit “Message in a Bottle”, for World Oceans Day, June 8th 2012. Without her aid, we would not have been able to commemorate World Oceans Day in the manner we’d hoped to when we began this project. She was efficient, resourceful and an absolute delight to collaborate with. In conjunction to the opening we would also like to tribute the success of the premiere event to our capable host committee: Asher Jay, Marissa Feinberg, Martha Shaw, Margaret Lydecker, Susanna Chang, Travis Yuen, Jennifer Seeger, Elise Boeger, Dar Riser and Katharina Duevel. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to West 3rd Common for their sumptuous vegetarian hors d’oeuvres and mature selection of wines, Heatbrokers, for contributing an exquisite range of cupcakes custom designed by Katharina Duevel bearing ocean themes pertinent to the opening and Michael Buckley at Gramercy Wine Cellars for providing the event with a seasoned selection of wines. We would like to commend Asher Jay, Susanna Chang and Jennifer Seeger for coordinating food and beverage sponsors for the event against an impossible deadline and Marissa Feinberg for brainstorming effective ways to fundraise for the event.

Sea Speak Sphere would like to thank Juliet Eilperin profusely for traveling up to New York from Washington D.C. just for the event, to address the audience about the plight of sharks in the world’s oceans. We profoundly appreciate her enthusiasm to participate in the opening night’s programme, we would also like to thank the competent Baba Brinkman, for expanding his quote for the installation into a germane rhyme that celebrated the occasion. He also debuted a titillating new rap song of his on climate change and contemporary environmental concerns that extended the dialogue fostered by the setting. We applaud Gaelin Rosenwaks’s passion for marine conservation and we are very glad she was able to lend unique her voice to the panel. We would also like to thank Susan Mc Pherson and Fabien Cousteau, for being our special guests for the evening, and for concluding the event with some memorable closing remarks.
